Usage Note
Truccare has two main senses: (1) to apply cosmetics (truccarsi — 'to put on makeup'; truccatore/truccatrice — 'makeup artist'); (2) to rig or fix (truccare una partita — 'to fix a match', truccare i conti — 'to cook the books'). The reflexive truccarsi is the everyday form for applying one's own makeup. The noun trucco means both 'makeup' and 'trick/cheat'.
