Usage Note
Acero is the maple tree, known in Italian woodworking and lutherie — many violins use acero for the back and sides. The 'c' before 'e' gives the 'ch' sound: AH-cheh-roh. The syrup (sciroppo d'acero) is a Canadian import; the tree is native also to northern Italy and the Alps.
