Usage Note
Affacciare is almost always used reflexively: affacciarsi — mi affaccio alla finestra (I look out the window). When describing a room or building, it means the space 'looks out onto' something (la stanza si affaccia sul mare = the room overlooks the sea). Auxiliary essere is used with the reflexive form.
Examples
"Mi affaccio dalla finestra ogni mattina."
Natural Translation
I look out the window every morning.
Literal Translation
To-myself I-look-out from-the window every morning.
