Usage Note
Allenare means to train or coach an athlete or team; the reflexive allenarsi means 'to train oneself, to work out'. The person who coaches is the allenatore (m) / allenatrice (f). It takes avere as auxiliary in the transitive form; allenarsi uses essere. Do not confuse with addestrare, which means to train animals or soldiers.
Examples
"Si allena ogni mattina in palestra."
Natural Translation
He trains every morning at the gym.
Literal Translation
Himself he-trains every morning in gym.
