Usage Note

Alludere is followed by the preposition a: alludere a qualcosa (to allude to something). It takes avere as its auxiliary. The past participle is alluso. A common spoken phrase is a cosa stai alludendo? ('what are you hinting at?'). Do not confuse with eludere (to evade/dodge) or illudere (to deceive/delude).
