Ammortamento is masculine (l'ammortamento, plural gli ammortamenti). It is a technical accounting and finance term referring to the gradual write-off of a loan (ammortamento del mutuo) or the depreciation of a fixed asset. The double 'm' and double consonant across the hyphen are both held in pronunciation. Outside financial contexts it is rarely used.
