Bisbetico describes a person who is ill-tempered, peevish, or hard to get along with — a gruff, cantankerous character. It is widely known from Shakespeare's play La bisbetica domata (The Taming of the Shrew). Feminine: bisbetica; plural: bisbetici / bisbetiche.
