Usage Note
Capezzolo is the standard anatomical term for the nipple, used in medical, nursing, and everyday contexts without being vulgar. The plural i capezzoli is the regular form. In breastfeeding literature, il capezzolo is discussed plainly. Do not confuse with capello (hair) — the endings are quite different.
Examples
"Il neonato cerca il capezzolo della madre."
Natural Translation
The newborn looks for the mother's nipple.
