concime

fertiliser, manure

noun kon-CHEE-meh Rare

Usage Note

Concime refers to any fertiliser used to enrich soil — either organic (concime naturale, manure) or chemical (concime chimico). The related verb is concimare (to fertilise). Note the gender: il concime is masculine. Do not confuse with condimento (seasoning/dressing for food), which sounds vaguely similar.

Examples

"Il contadino ha sparso il concime sui campi."

Natural Translation

The farmer spread fertiliser on the fields.
