considerare

to consider

verb kon-see-deh-RAH-reh Common

Origin: Latin considerare, 'to observe carefully'

Also means

to regard, to deem

Usage Note

Considerare can take a direct object plus adjective or noun complement: lo considero un amico (I consider him a friend). It uses avere as auxiliary. The reflexive considerarsi means to consider oneself. Do not confuse with pensare a (to think about) — considerare implies evaluation.
