Demenziale literally relates to dementia but in everyday Italian it means crazy, absurd, or wildly over-the-top. Un film demenziale is a slapstick/zany comedy, not a film about dementia. It is often used approvingly of absurd humor — una commedia demenziale is a screwball comedy. The same form is used for both masculine and feminine; plural is demenziali.
