Usage Note
Dispendio stresses the idea of squandering or consuming resources excessively — money, energy, or time. The phrase dispendio di energie (waste of energy) is very common. Its adjective dispendioso means costly or wasteful. Unlike spesa (expense), dispendio almost always carries a negative connotation of excess.
