Usage Note
Eleggibile means eligible specifically for election or appointment to a position — it does not mean eligible in the general sense of 'qualified' (for that, idoneo or avente diritto are used). It is invariable for gender: il candidato eleggibile, la candidata eleggibile. The related noun is eleggibilità (eligibility for election).
