esperienza
experience
noun eh-speh-RYEN-tsah Common
Origin: Latin experientia, from experiri (to try)
Usage Note
Esperienza covers both 'experience' as accumulated knowledge and a single 'experience' as an event — the same breadth as the English word. The plural esperienze is regular. In job contexts, ho molta esperienza means 'I have a lot of experience,' not 'I experienced a lot,' so the distinction between count and mass uses that English makes (an experience vs experience) is resolved purely by context in Italian.
Examples
"Ha molta esperienza nel settore."
Natural Translation
She has a lot of experience in the field.
