Usage Note
Ginocchio has a notable irregular plural: in formal or medical usage the plural is le ginocchia (feminine), while colloquially i ginocchi (masculine) is also heard. In ginocchio means 'on one's knees.' Cadere in ginocchio ('to fall to one's knees') is a common expression of surrender or reverence.
