Usage Note
Illudere means to deceive someone or, reflexively (illudersi), to delude oneself. The reflexive mi illudo ('I'm fooling myself') is very common. It takes avere in the active and essere in the reflexive. The past participle is illuso. Do not confuse with deludere (to disappoint).
