Usage Note
Immaginazione is the faculty of forming mental images or ideas. Its near-synonym fantasia leans more toward free-flowing fantasy, while immaginazione can have a more practical, creative dimension. The verb immaginare (to imagine) and the adjective immaginario (imaginary) share the root. A common phrase is avere molta immaginazione (to have a vivid imagination).
