Usage Note
Incompatibilità is invariable in the plural. In Italian public law it describes a rule that prohibits the same person from holding two offices simultaneously: incompatibilità di cariche ('incompatibility of offices'). In everyday language it describes a clash between people or things: incompatibilità di carattere ('personality clash'). The pronunciation stresses the final syllable.
