Infrastruttura is feminine (l'infrastruttura, plural le infrastrutture). It is a loanword-calque from French used in engineering, IT, and economics. In Italian political discourse it is nearly always plural: le infrastrutture del paese (the country's infrastructure). There is no shorter everyday synonym — the word is used even in casual speech.
