Usage Note
Lasso in modern Italian almost always appears in the fixed phrase lasso di tempo (a lapse/span of time). As a standalone noun it is fairly literary. Do not confuse it with the adjective lasso (weary, exhausted), which is a separate homograph of poetic register.
