leggermente

slightly

adverb lej-jehr-MEN-teh Rare

Also means

lightly

Usage Note

Leggermente is the adverb of leggero (light) and covers both physical lightness ('tread lightly') and degree ('slightly different'). It is one of the most common degree adverbs in Italian. Note the double 'g': the adjective leggero keeps its double consonant in derivatives, so misspelling it as legermente is a common error.

Examples

"La temperatura è scesa leggermente."

Natural Translation

The temperature has dropped slightly.
