librare
to soar
verb lee-BRAH-reh Rare
Origin: From Latin librare (to balance, to weigh).
Also means
to hover
Usage Note
Librare (or more often librarsi in the air) means to float or hover aloft — typically of birds or aircraft. L'aquila si libra nel cielo (the eagle soars in the sky) is a classic example. The reflexive librarsi is far more common than the base form. Takes essere as auxiliary in the reflexive.
Examples
"L'aquila si libra sopra la montagna."
Natural Translation
The eagle soars above the mountain.
