Maglia is feminine and is highly versatile: it can mean a knitted garment (una maglia di lana — a wool sweater), a sports jersey (la maglia della squadra — the team jersey), or simply a mesh/stitch in knitting. The plural is regular maglie. In cycling and football, indossare la maglia (to wear the jersey) is a mark of honor.
