Usage Note
Mondo means 'the world' and is used in many idiomatic expressions: tutto il mondo ('the whole world'), venire al mondo ('to be born', literally 'to come into the world'), non è la fine del mondo ('it's not the end of the world'). The plural mondi ('worlds') is regular and appears in phrases like i mondi possibili ('possible worlds').
