coin

currency

Usage Note

Moneta means a single 'coin' but also 'currency' as a system (la moneta unica, the single currency). Watch the false-friend trap: it is not 'money' in general, which is denaro or soldi; pagare in moneta means to pay in coins.

I found an old coin.

I-have found a coin old.
