negoziato

negotiation

noun neh-goh-TSYAH-toh Less Common

Usage Note

Negoziato (masculine) refers specifically to a formal negotiation process, especially in diplomacy or labor relations: i negoziati di pace (peace negotiations). Do not confuse with negozio (a shop/store) which shares the same Latin root (negotium — business) but has diverged in meaning. The plural negoziati is the more common form.

Examples

"I negoziati di pace sono ripresi."

Natural Translation

The peace negotiations have resumed.
