Usage Note

Orecchino literally means 'little ear thing' and is the standard word for an earring. The plural orecchini is very common. Note the gender: despite referring to something worn on the ear, it is masculine. You mettere gli orecchini (put on earrings) or portare gli orecchini (wear earrings).
