Usage Note
Ostilità ends in -tà, a suffix that marks it as invariable in the plural — le ostilità looks the same in singular and plural, much like città or qualità. It can refer to a general feeling of antagonism or, in the plural, to acts of warfare: riprendere le ostilità means 'to resume hostilities'. The related adjective is ostile.
Examples
"L'ostilità tra i due gruppi era evidente."
Natural Translation
The hostility between the two groups was evident.
