ottimistico

optimistic

adjective ot-tee-MEES-tee-koh Rare

Usage Note

Ottimistico means optimistic in a general or situational sense — una previsione ottimistica ('an optimistic forecast'). It differs subtly from ottimista, which is used more as a predicate adjective describing a person's habitual outlook (sono ottimista — 'I am an optimist/optimistic'). Ottimistico is more common in attributive position before nouns. Agrees in gender and number: ottimistica, ottimistici, ottimistiche.

Examples

"Ha un approccio ottimistico alla vita."
