Pasticcio is masculine; plural pasticci. Its primary colloquial sense is 'mess' or 'muddle' (che pasticcio! — what a mess!). It also denotes a baked savoury pie (a pasta or meat pie). The idiom trovarsi in un pasticcio means 'to be in a pickle'. Don't confuse with pasticceria (pastry shop) or pasticciere (pastry chef).
