Percezione covers both sensory perception (la percezione visiva) and cognitive/social perception (la percezione pubblica). It is always feminine. The related verb is percepire (to perceive), and the adjective is percettivo. In psychology, disturbi della percezione (perceptual disorders) is a standard phrase.
