Usage Note
Piovere is an impersonal verb used almost exclusively in the third person singular: piove (it's raining), pioveva (it was raining). In compound tenses the meteorological sense accepts both e' piovuto and ha piovuto, but figurative uses take only essere — piovono offerte (offers are pouring in).
