Precarietà is feminine and, like all nouns ending in -tà, is invariable in the plural. It describes a state of instability or insecurity — most commonly precarietà lavorativa (job insecurity), a major social and political theme in Italy where a large proportion of the workforce holds fixed-term contracts (contratti precari). The adjective is precario.
