Usage Note

Privilegiato describes a person or position enjoying special advantages — una posizione privilegiata ('a privileged position'). It can be used approvingly ('fortunate') or critically ('unfairly advantaged'). As a past participle of privilegiare, it also functions predicatively: sei stato privilegiato = 'you were favoured.' Feminine form: privilegiata.
