Usage Note

Profondità is invariable — the plural is also profondità, like all nouns ending in an accented vowel. In profondità means 'in depth / deeply.' It is used both literally (la profondità del mare — 'the depth of the sea') and figuratively (profondità di pensiero — 'depth of thought').
