Radicare is most commonly used in its reflexive form radicarsi ('to become rooted' or 'to take root'), both literally of plants and figuratively of ideas or customs: queste tradizioni si sono radicate nel tempo ('these traditions have become deeply rooted over time'). The past participle radicato is widely used as an adjective (profondamente radicato = 'deeply rooted').
