Usage Note

Rammaricare is almost always used reflexively: rammaricarsi di qualcosa (to be sorry about something, to regret something). It expresses a milder, more resigned sorrow than rimpiangere (to miss/lament). The auxiliary in compound tenses is essere in the reflexive: mi sono rammaricato.
