Ravvicinare combines ri- (again) + avvicinare (to approach) and means to bring two parties or objects closer together, physically or figuratively. It is often used reflexively: ravvicinarsi means to draw nearer or to patch up a relationship. It takes avere in transitive use and essere reflexively.
