resina
resin
noun REH-zee-nah Rare
Origin: From Latin resina, from Greek rhētínē (pine resin).
Usage Note
Resina covers both natural tree resin (resina di pino, pine resin) and synthetic resins (resina epossidica, epoxy resin) used in crafts, construction, and manufacturing. In colloquial use resina is also the name for a cheap Athenian retsina wine — a false friend for Italian speakers encountering Greek retsina.
Examples
"La resina del pino ha un profumo intenso."
Natural Translation
Pine resin has an intense fragrance.
