Origin: from Italian 'rischio', risk

Usage Note

Rischiare can be followed by di plus an infinitive to mean 'to be in danger of': rischi di cadere ('you might fall'). As an -iare verb it keeps a single i in the tu form, rischi, not 'rischii'. The noun is il rischio.
