Usage Note

Risultare is often used in official or administrative Italian to mean 'it appears that' or 'it turns out' — mi risulta che ('as far as I know', literally 'it results to me that'). It takes essere as its auxiliary. Distinguish from ottenere un risultato ('to obtain a result') where risultato is the noun.
