Rotolo means a cylindrical roll of material — un rotolo di carta igienica (a toilet-paper roll), un rotolo di carta da forno (a roll of baking paper). Colloquially andare a rotoli means 'to go to the dogs' or 'fall apart completely' — an extremely common idiomatic expression. The plural i rotoli is regular.
