Scommettere follows the pattern of mettere and is irregular: past participle scommesso. It takes su for what you bet on (scommettere su una squadra) and che for a clause (Scommetto che arriva tardi — 'I bet he'll arrive late'). The noun scommessa means 'a bet.'
