sensibilità

sensitivity

noun sen-see-bee-lee-TAH Rare

Origin: From Latin sensibilitas, from sensibilis (perceptible), from sentire (to feel).

Also means

sensibility

Usage Note

Sensibilità is feminine and invariable in the plural (like all Italian nouns ending in an accented vowel: le sensibilità). The written accent marks the stressed final syllable. It covers both emotional sensitivity (avere sensibilità verso gli altri — to be sensitive towards others) and physical sensitivity (sensibilità al dolore — pain sensitivity). The accent is mandatory in writing.

Examples

"Dimostra grande sensibilità verso chi soffre."

Natural Translation

She shows great sensitivity towards those who suffer.
