Usage Note

Sfera is a feminine noun (la sfera, plural le sfere). Beyond the geometric sense (a sphere or ball), it is widely used figuratively for a domain or field of activity: sfera privata (private sphere), sfera politica (political sphere). Una sfera di cristallo is a crystal ball. It should not be confused with cerchio (circle, 2D) or palla (ball for sport).
