Sgombrare means to clear a space of objects or people — sgombrare la stanza (to clear out the room) or sgombrare un edificio (to evacuate a building). It follows regular -are conjugation. The related noun is sgombero (m), used for evictions and house clearances. Do not confuse with sgombro, which is also a mackerel (the fish).
