Usage Note
Sieropositivo (literally 'serum-positive') is the standard Italian clinical and journalistic term for HIV-positive status, or more broadly for testing positive for antibodies to any pathogen. It is also used as a noun: un sieropositivo / una sieropositiva. The opposite is sieronegativo. In respectful usage it is preferred to older terms that conflate infection with advanced illness.
