signore
gentleman, sir
noun see-NYOH-reh Common
Origin: Latin senior (elder, older man).

Usage Note
Signore is masculine (gender corrected from seed); la signora is the feminine equivalent (madam/Mrs). Before a surname the final -e is dropped: il signor Rossi, but buongiorno, signore retains it. The plural signori is used to address a mixed or male group ('ladies and gentlemen' is signore e signori).
Examples
"Il signore ha prenotato un tavolo."
Natural Translation
The gentleman has reserved a table.
