Usage Note

Slittare uses essere as its auxiliary when intransitive: la riunione è slittata ('the meeting has been pushed back'). In journalistic Italian it very commonly means a deadline or event has been delayed — la votazione è slittata di una settimana ('the vote slipped by a week').
