Socializzazione refers both to the sociological process by which individuals internalise social norms (primary socializzazione in childhood) and, in political-economic discourse, to the transfer of private assets to collective ownership. The -zione suffix always adds three syllables, pronounced -TSYOH-neh. The everyday verb is socializzare ('to socialise, to mingle').
